DAVA kicks off its 36th year!

Since 1974 DAVA (DuPage Association of Volunteer Administration), has been providing networking and professional development for volunteer managers in and around DuPage County. DAVA kicked off its 36th year with the Annual Brunch and Election of Officers on January 27, 2010 at Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center. Over 50 members gathered around the roaring fire to learn more about Fullersburg Woods, elect this year’s Officers, sample favorite potluck dishes, network and learn about the 2010 schedule of programs. 

DAVA members thanked the outgoing Board and Officers: Diane Ernst, President, Tia Milne, Secretary, Kathy Blair, Program Chairperson and Cassandra Peiler, Web Coordinator. DAVA members elected and welcomed the new Board members and Officers: Steve Gustis, President, Cassandra Peiler, Vice President, Julie Gilmartin, Secretary.

Volunteer Recognition

Recognizing Volunteers was the topic of the DAVA Meeting, February 25, 2009 in the beautiful Atrium at Danada House. Chris Linnell and Diane Ernst presented this training module from Betty Stallings’ Training Busy Staff to Succeed with Volunteers to 45 DAVA members. The workshop included the key concepts of recognition as well as small group work in which the members shared tips and brainstormed new recognition ideas. The February Power Booster, resource handout, focuses on Recognizing Volunteers in Tough Economic Times and will be posted soon.  Watch for photos of the training coming soon.

DAVA December Meeting

January 3rd, 2009

Our last training of the year was held at COD and continued the previous training given by Sally Kenaston and Chris Linnell. DAVA members celebrated the year end with loads of good will and holiday treats.
