Emotional Intelligence (EI) is defined as our ability to read, use, understand, and regulate our own and others’ emotions. In this workshop, attendees will learn the basics of how to use key emotional intelligence concepts in the workplace -- specifically, we will review emotional identification and awareness; the difference between assertive, passive, and aggressive behavior; identifying your emotional triggers; global vs. specific self esteem; and how to regain composure during difficult interactions. EI skills are shown to positively increase work performance, the quality of relationships, and also to help people deal with stressful situations in more effective ways.  Whether interacting with volunteers, peers, subordinates, or supervisors these skills will help improve your communication and effectiveness.
